Reflect.
How often do you do this?
You’re busy right? I get it.
I’m busy too, not just being a businesswoman, but also having a young family, being a wife, a dog mum, fitting in family, friends, exercise, downtime, cooking, charity, volunteer work, cleaning (who am I kidding, I don’t clean anymore, this is the ONE expense I will never regret!), the list goes on.
How’s yours? As long as your arm?…
What can you do to embrace all this stuff that you do ?
My little tip: at the end of every day (for me it’s normally just before I shut my eyes), think about what you HAVE achieved that day.
Not what you haven’t.
Why?
Well, if you don’t know, our brains are bloody brilliant at taking in what we tell them to take in, so tell it what we have done, not what we haven’t. Even if you’ve only managed to do one thing that you wanted to, that one thing is better than nothing at all right?
I still have a LOT that I want to do...
As the year has gone on and as I’m writing this, I still have a LOT that I want to do and there are lots that I haven’t done.
Am I ok with that? Yep.
There is a saying that I love,“You are exactly where you are meant to be right now” and I often think of this when I’m feeling a little bit frustrated or as a super inpatient person.
Add it to your list and remember to breathe when you say it.
How to reflect on what you have achieved...
So, as we come to the end of the year, I want to highlight some things that will help you reflect on what you have achieved...
You’re still here. This is a huge result in itself – give yourself credit!
- Write down ten things that you have achieved / completed this year, this month, or this week. (If the list is longer than ten then keep going!)
- Ask your audience what they have seen you achieve this year, this may sound odd but if they remember one thing, it shows that they are watching you, they are celebrating you and it may help jog your memory!!
Have a listen to this episode of my podcast with Sarah Alex Carter where we chat about how to reduce stress. It's also linked to reflection and what it can help you believe.
