How many times in January will you say Happy New Year? I find it such a funny month, do you?

So much pressure hits us in so many formats.

There are so many well meant adverts on how you can do SO much in January, be it things like lose weight, do your new thing etc etc, what I really struggle with is the pressure our environments put on us to be something.

I 100% get that each industry is different, January has always been seen as the month for the fitness industry. Coaching and growth (my fav) is also very busy as we step into our roles more and offer that support to those that are ready for it.

Travel agents are busy as we look for brighter days ahead, I always book a break in Jan, do you?

But really, why do we keep pressuring ourselves to do more?

Think and sit for a while. Think about what you REALLY want and WHO and WHAT do you need to do to get there.

For me, this is what I think of the New Year...

  1. Reflect on what the past year HAS brought you. Checkout my December Blog where I chat about all things reflection.
  2. Look at what worked - What did you do to make things work?
  3. Reflect on what didn’t - What stopped it working? Did it matter?
  4. Be honest with your intentions and actions. Setting unrealistic milestones will only make you feel sh*t further down the year.
  5. Don’t wait until January to do the things that will make you happy. Book them throughout the year. I add in one thing each month at least, however big or small they may be.
  6. Take little actions every day. Let’s be realistic, you’re not going to climb Everest in an hour, what steps do you need to take to get there?
  7. Get outdoors more. If you do nothing else this year - do this! Since moving to a new city I have joined an outdoor only fitness class with the fabulous Gemma Pugh - we train whatever the weather.
  8. Surround yourself with the people who will lift you up and let go of those that don’t.
  9. Ensure you turn all devices off regularly. I know this is said a lot but do you know what this does to our melatonin and serotonin? Seriously, do it! I massively suffer from SAD in the winter months (self diagnosed!) so I do what I need to make myself feel better in the dark months. I’ve just bought one of those natural alarm clocks, I'll let you know how it goes!
  10. My main advice is if you need support to fulfill something, then get it. I promise you that the bus won’t drive itself (well it might be the way the future is going but let’s not get into that here!)

If you want to have more time for you, to do the things you love, with smiles and less stress then let’s have a chat.

Need support to get where you want to be this year?
